Overview of position

Our client is seeking an experienced instructor in basic literacy and numeracy to provide full-time instruction to beneficiaries in our centre in Baidoa.
The position sits within the Federal Government of Somalia’s National Programme for the Treatment and Handling of Disengaged Combatants and is managed by the Jubaland State of Somalia government and our client with dual reporting requirements. Role objectives

This contract receives day to day and week to week oversight from the line manager and other staff. Overall contract performance management is jointly monitored and evaluated by International Organization for Migration and government partner. International Organization for Migration will undertake contracting obligations and remuneration in close collaboration with Jubaland State of Somalia’s Ministry of Internal Security.

Key competencies

EDUCATION
• Higher degree or recognized professional qualification (preferred)

Experience:
• Experience of working in the South West State of Somalia’s regions is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in curriculum development
• Experience in teaching learners with diverse needs

Knowledge and Understanding:
• Practical understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies
• Theoretical understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies
• Relevant curriculum knowledge
• Understanding of the role of the Library as an information centre
• Understanding how the Library can support the curriculum

Others:
• Computer literate in MS office applications – Word, Excel, Outlook and Database applications.
• Previous experience working with youth at risk and or the return and reintegration at risk groups a considerable advantage.

Further Information:

Internals of the Organization and NMS candidates, as well as external female candidates, will be considered as first-tier candidates. This vacancy is also open to second-tier candidates.
The appointment is subject to funding confirmation.
Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, and security clearances
