Background

DRC has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. Using a human rights framework, the DRC Somalia operations focuses mainly on people who are affected by displacement, including refugees, internally displaced, and migrant.

Danish Demining Group (DDG) is a specialized unit within DRC which implements mine action and armed violence reduction (AVR) programmes. DDG’s mandate is ‘to create a safe environment free from armed violence and the remnants of conflict’, and DDG does this via a programmatic focus on four key sectors: Security Systems Reform, Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) management, Mine Action and Conflict Management.

Overall Purpose of the role:

Overall purpose is supporting and assisting the health related sector of the grant awarded from UNHCR to DRC implanted by Hargeisa Group Hospital and work closely HGH in identification of refugee that need health attention and refer them to the appropriate specialist.

Responsibilities:

· Support the Identification of cases for medical attention and represent them to the medical officer/ team leader.

· Assist in monitoring and support the health referral program and ensure feedback relating to key public health data is provided to operational partners, UN agencies, Ministry of Health (MoH), NGO partners and other relevant sectors (protection, community services etc.) to ensure a multi sectoral approach.

· Ensure that referrals are timely, appropriate and that agency guidelines are strictly followed.

· Produce timely reports for internal use on the ongoing activities of the project.

· Encourage the participation of community members throughout health promotion activities.

  • Prepare SitReps and maintain the confidentiality of the cases.

Education, experience & technical competencies

· Diploma in Nursing (minimum) and preferably Public Health or similar field from a recognized University.

  • At least 2 years’ experience in implementing and overseeing Refugee Health programs with a INGOs or UN agency, ideally in disaster or complex emergency settings with a minimum of 1-year experience in emergency response or humanitarian relief context
  • Diploma or university degree in public health or health-related discipline.
  • Training in public health data collection and management would be an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge in Arabic and English Language is a requirement for this position. since the incumbent will work with Refugees with different ethnicity
  • Proven ability to work well with, and relate to, people at all levels and from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, and maintain a high standard of personal conduct.

Conditions

Availability: 15th April 2019

Duty station: Hargeisa

Reporting to: Team Leader- Protection

Duration: 8 Month and 15 Days contract.

Contract: This position is graded as G6 (NM-I) for qualified national staff and the terms of employment will be in accordance with DRC terms for national staff.
