The Capacity Building Officer will facilitate smooth communication and cooperation between NCA, UNICEF, Field Coordinators and community water and sanitation management groups in the project as well as local government level and CSOs.
• Responsible for providing overall mentoring support to participating CBOs and community members on PPP and hygiene and sanitation issues
• The Capacity Building Officer will work with the field coordinators to ensure that training and communication to the participating communities are undertaken in respect of planned activities and project document.
• Where necessary identify and manage consultants to provide technical and institutional training in accordance to the requirements of the participating communities and based on the assessments provided.
• At all times the Capacity Building Officer will act in a professional and courteous manner and will maintain a positive and constructive image of the Project, NCA and UNICEF
• Take on an advisory role to the project field staff on technical issues relating to the implementation of PPP, CLTS and Institutional strengthening to ensure that best practices are applied.
• Responsible for identifying and helping to resolve problems and conflicts that arise in relation to the project. In the event that s/he is unable to resolve a problem or conflict s/he will promptly share the issue with the Program Coordinator
• Help to foster a culture of mutual respect and transparency among field staff and community management groups that the project works with.
• Ensure that any complaints or concerns raised by participating communities are brought to the attention of the appropriate team members fully and respectfully addressed.
How to apply:
Degree in Social sciences and community development or a subject related to water resource management
Experience:
• Excellent communication, facilitation and listening skills and be a good coordinator and delegator of responsibilities.
• At least 5 years’ experience in supporting capacity building initiatives at community level including organizational development.
• Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative team environment
• Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks
• Understand the legal system/ National development plans/SDGs/ and policy issues at National/community level an added advantage.
• Strong interpersonal skills including demonstrated communication and personnel management skills.
• A proven personal commitment to community development
• Excellent report writing skills.
• S/he will be a Somali National.
Language:
Excellent spoken and written English and Somali.
