The Opportunity:
As Child Protection in Emergencies Specialist (CPiE) you will be responsible for assessing the knowledge, understanding and capacity of Concern Worldwide and its partners to mainstream child protection into their overall programming, and based on this assessment; provide training to Concern and their partners’ management and field staff.
You will need to travel into Somalia to conduct the training, and as a result, must have completed HEAT training before travel. You will need to ensure that Concern and partners’ staff have a clear understanding of key child protection issues with an emergency context, how they can effectively address them in the short term, and how communities can be supported to proactively address child protection issues in the longer term.
The Specialist will need to take an active role in linking Plan and Concern with technical co-ordination groups and contribute to advocacy within the country specific child protection coordination group and other stakeholders and technical agencies relevant to the sector
Do you have what it takes?
In order to succeed in this challenging and exciting role, you will require a university degree in social work, a social science or another related field. At least 7 years’ experience implementing CP projects and providing technical advice. Demonstrable experience in conducting child protection assessments in emergency contexts and technical expertise in implementing community-based child protection responses.
Demonstrable ability to network and liaise with major child protection actors. As well as experience mainstreaming Child Protection in project design and implementation, and developing participatory monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
Comprehensive knowledge of the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, Sphere and the Red Cross/ NGO Code of Conduct.

Salary: Circa USD$55,000 per annum
