Save the Children is implementing a one year project on Child, Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM). The project is being implemented in 4 regions in Somaliland Maroodijeex, Awdel, Sahil and Togdheer in partnership with NAGAAD and HAVOYOCO. It aims to contribute towards efforts to reduce/stop child marriage through strengthening government capacity to develop and enforce legal and policy frameworks on CEFM, increasing awareness of communities on prevention and protection of children from CEFM, and empowerment of children and women through gender sensitive capacity building and provision of health, education and livelihood services for married and adolescent girls at risk. .
As a strategy to address CEFM, a training of trainers (ToT) on life skills has been planned, in order to enhance the knowledge and capacity of youth and young children on gender equality, life skills, leadership skills and knowledge of child rights in the targeted areas. Save the Children Somaliland however does not have contextualized life-skills manuals to guide the training sessions. The training will be conducted for 25 child and youth leaders from children groups and child forums who will then be supported to cascade the trainings to their peers. In view of this, Save the Children Somalia/Somaliland wishes to engage the services of a qualified consultant/s or firm with two members (lead facilitator and co-facilitator) to develop a life-skills manual and facilitate the life skills ToT for youth and children in Somaliland.
The overall objective of the consultancy is to develop a TOT training manual and conduct a training of trainers (TOT) for 28 children and youth to equip them with the requisite social life skills which will enable them to protect themselves from different forms of violence, exploitation, abuse and neglect but also to improve their well-being. The trainings are also forecasted to contribute to the ensuring that the trained children and their peers become active and productive community members in their respective communities. The 28 participants are then expected to become qualified trainers who will cascade life skills trainings to other children, with guidance and support from teachers, and child protection community based structures such as Child Welfare Committees, Child Education Committees and Child Protection Focal Points.
